Race Recap
The night started out early with 30 mph steady winds and the temps were down to 60 deg.
Most of us were in shorts and tee shirts, caught by suprise by the cold front that moved in.
Winds were blowing from the east hard, but that wasn't going to stop the fans from watching the show!
By the heat races, the winds dropped to about 20 mph and held, till the night was over.
Kenny McCutcheon had spent the entire day watering the track and it paid off. Very little dust was in the air even with the winds, that lead to an awesome fast track!
The H&B Stock's race was short with only 8 cars total, Kendra Efird was knock out hard in the main and still took the sweep! Heats, Dash 4 Cash and the Main Event!
The A/C Print Street Stocks were next with 10 cars in the field, had Danny Efird in the # 81 running off from the field taking the Sweep in the Heats, Dash 4 Cash and the Main. By the end of the main event, Danny had nearly passed the entire field more than once with his left front tire barely on the ground.
Next was the UMP Limited Late Models. Cliff Hansen took the Dash 4 Cash. The car count was low ( 8) but they invited serveral SW Super Trucks to join in. The late Models held a half track lead on the SW Super Trucks witch gave the fans 2 races in one. The 911 of Clifford Hansen took the Dash for Cash While # 88 Don Newcomb, had held the lead in the main from the begining to take the checkered flag.
The NMMRA Non-Wing Sprints were the show of the night! This was their first show at WSS. The difference was very noticable compared to the restricted Wing Sprints. Their cars were not as stable at high speeds and they had a huge horsepower that most had a hard time planting it to the ground. There were 18 to start in the heats and 18 finished in the main without 1 caution! The sprint drivers struggled to hold a steady line, still getting used to the new track, but were 3 and 4 wide passing and sliding around all over the place as the track went from wet and tacky to a slight dry slick in the main. # 40X Scott Box was the one who gave the highlight of the show by driving in to the top of turn one and launching out of turn 2 like a rocket! Like most, the bottom of the track was good but Scott found the sweet spot and typically passed 2-4 cars just out of turn 2 to turn 3. He tried the bottom with no better luck than the rest, but the speed he grabbed out of turn 2 was spectacular and without much effort, he took the win.
We want to thank the UMP Limited Late Models and the NMMRA Sprints for their awesome performance, despite the weather conditions and they proved to be a great show for the fans!
Please join us again at the races next Saturday Night!
